The device itself is implanted by a veterinarian just under the skin between the shoulders. Insertion is quick and virtually painless with no anesthetic or further treatment required. The pet owner must enroll their pets unique identification number into the HomeAgain^® Lost Pet Recovery Service. 

The HomeAgain^® Lost Pet Recovery Service can be reached at 1-866-466-3242. If your pet is lost, the microchip can be detected and the identification code read by a scanner used by veterinarians, animal shelters and other pet-related agencies. The identification code, registered with the HomeAgain^® Lost Pet Recovery Service, is matched to the owner or the designated contact to initiate the recovery process.


From Enrollment to Recovery: How the HomeAgain^® System Works

Enrollment
Once the HomeAgain^® microchip has been implanted in your pet, your veterinarian will provide you with a HomeAgain^® Lost Pet Recovery Service enrollment form. In order to enroll your pet in the database, complete and mail this form to the HomeAgain^® Lost Pet Recovery Service.

Tagging
Your veterinarian will also provide you with a special yellow tag to attach to your pet's collar. This promptly alerts any animal shelter or veterinarian that your pet has a microchip and is enrolled in the HomeAgain^® Lost Pet Recovery Service database.

Always make sure that your contact information is accurate and up to date. Visit our website or call 1-866-466-3242 in the event you move, obtain a new telephone number or change veterinarians. Keeping your contact information updated is absolutely essential in the event your pet becomes lost.
